Møns museum is a lovely little museum that tells the story of the island’s history. The museum is situated in the old Empiregården, which was built in the 1700’s as a merchant’s house. Over the years, the buildings have housed different creatures great and small, and now the old crooked space is part of the experience. Up the building’s one end is one of only two remaining city gates in Denmark. The mill gate was probably built in the 1400s, and stands guard at the ancient ramparts, which is the best preserved town fortification and protected Stege in the Middle Ages.
